HDF-EOS XML Schema Validator

Background

ECS metadata is stored in ODL objects and groups and imbedded in HDF-EOS metadata group as ODL textual content. Recently, we have developed both a DTD and a Schema to represent ECS HDF-EOS files using XML. The metadata portion of the HDF-EOS files is represented by separate Schemas that are based on the ECS BMGT DTD for collection level and granule level XML representation of the Metadata.

Schema Validator

Features:

Exapnded the XML schema of the Collection level and Granule level metadata with all the typing information including the list of restrictions on the list of VALIDS is.
Validation of XML metadata files against the XML schema and generate reports listing all invalid elements.

Usage

A command line tool to check the validity of the XML metadata files

usage: java -cp "xercersImpl.jar;xml-api.jar;sv.jar" gov.nasa.du.schemavalidator.SchemaValidator (options) file1 [,file2,file3,...]

options:
  -o logfilename     log errors to this file.
  -h          This help screen.
  -f          Filter error logs; one of these ['w','e','f'] 'e' Errors, 'w' Warnings, 'f' Fatal Errors only.

A GUI tool to validate XML metadata files.
